November seems much too close and much too far away both at the same time. Gah! I haven't nailed down a story idea yet, though I do have a few characters in mind. Just a matter of figuring out what situation to put them in, I suppose. :)

I've heard Stephen King's book "On Writing" recommended so many times that it's gotten to be one of those books I was dying to read, just to see if it was half as good as everyone keeps saying. Broke down and bought it a day or two ago, and finished it last night. Exactly what I needed to get ready for this year's Nano - I highly recommend it. I got a lot out of it.

What's everyone up to? Got any idea yet about what you want to write? Gearing up in any particular way?

Hey there! I'm Summer, your friendly neighborhood mod. With NaNo drawing closer, I thought it might be nifty to have a community for those of us diving into the insanity from Alaska.

Feel free to introduce yourself, ask questions, etc. No hard and fast rules - just please put pictures and large batches of text behind an LJ-cut, and play nice with the other kiddies. Also - please do not advertise. Because it just irritates the crap out of me.

A little bit about me - I'm 24, have lived in the Mat-Su Valley since I was three or so, attempted NaNoWriMo in 2003 and failed miserably. Going to give it another try this year. :) Would love to make some kind of a career out of writing, but I still have a lot to learn. Looking forward to meeting all of you nice people!
